Education
The Plan
Moving to a new and improved LMS affords all instructors an opportunity to incorporate new features and functions to enhance their teaching. Within an institution of higher learning it is assumed that faculty are life-long learners and model that behavior for their students. To support faculty/instructors in learning how to use the learning management system, we will provide training in three alternative methods as outlined below.
Current Progress
The following educational opportunities are available:
Certificate Program for Faculty and Instructors
The Institute for Teaching and Learning is sponsoring a Professional Development program for faculty on “Best Practices for Integration of a Learning Management System into Professional Practice in Higher Education.” Participants completing the program will receive a certificate from ITL recognizing their accomplishments.
Cohort groups have been scheduled to provide as many options for attendance as possible. The same content will be taught to each cohort group in the same sequence so it may be possible to mix and match dates to avoid schedule conflicts. All instructional sessions will be held in distance learning classrooms and will be recorded for future reference by participants. Wayne College faculty may attend sessions for the October cohort and the Friday cohort via DL technology on their campus in room A-107. Seating is limited so register early for the cohort that best suits your schedule. If additional sections are needed, they will be added. Register Now for the Desire2Learn Pedagogical Training LT with ITL available on the Software Training Services Training Seminar website. You will need to select the correct Month/Year (October or November) from the drop down menu for which you would like to register.
