The Plan

Installation

The necessary hardware will be purchased and installed in the Computer Center on the UA platform. This hardware includes seven new servers, an uninterrupted power supply, and disk storage. In addition, we will purchase the necessary operating system licenses, SQL server license, and Cisco firewalls to ensure the security of the Learning Management System (LMS).

Integration

The Integration team from Desire2Learn (D2L) will meet with UA staff in late September to set up a test/development server to begin the integration process. As the new LMS application is set up and properly configured to align with current UA systems (including WebCT) it will be moved to the production environment and the process of migration of existing WebCT courses will begin.

Current Progress

Installation

Purchase orders have been generated and placed with the appropriate vendors. These are not 'off-the-shelf' boxes so they will take a few weeks to assemble and deliver. When the equipment arrives, we will post pictures of the installation process.

Integration

We are working with D2L to schedule a visit to UA by their Implementation team to set up the test/development server.
