What's New and Upcoming in Adult Focus
Adult Focus wants to congratulate our graduate assistant, Karl Macura on his completion of the extensive 80-hour Academic Adviser Training Program through the Academic Advisement Center in University College. Karl’s role in our office is changing to take advantage of this new area of expertise. He is now acting as an academic adviser in our Adult Focus office as he completes his graduate assistantship. Please stop by and congratulate Karl on his accomplishment and if you need to speak with him regarding academic matters, feel free to make an appointment.
Veterans, make sure you pay attention to the listserv sent out by our Veterans’ Services Coordinator, Janet Corey. She is working to help set up your Military Veterans Association (MVA). Meetings are being held, the constitution is being written, and a holiday party for all military veteran students and their families is planned for Thursday, December 3 from 6 to 9 p.m., details to follow. Also, if you wish to take advantage of your own space, the R & R located on the ground floor of the Student Union, you must get her your student ID number as soon as possible. It will be swipe access only. Without your ID number, we can’t put access on your Zip Card. The grand opening of our temporary space will be Monday, November 2. Keep an eye out for additional details.
Nontraditional Student Week will soon be upon us. Held the first full week in November, it is a time to celebrate who and what you are, a nontraditional student. This year, as a token of our appreciation for all your hard work, Adult Focus wants you to stop by and pick up a little something from us to you! The first 200 people in the computer lab on Wednesday, November 4 will receive a small gift.
Please note the addition of a “Comments/Suggestions Box” in our computer lab. If something good happens in our area, we’d like to know and if something not so good occurs, we’d appreciate knowing about that, too. We want this place to work for you, therefore, we need to know what you think.
Congratulations to all of our raffle winners so far this fall semester! We’ve given out four sets of reserved seating football tickets this semester and we continue to award free printing in our monthly drawings in the computer lab. So stop by the office in the computer lab, room 252 and fill out a monthly drawing ticket for a chance to win free printing in our lab.
