Alpha Sigma Lambda Spring Ceremony
For the nontraditional student, Alpha Sigma Lambda stands as an inspiration for continuing scholastic growth. It is the oldest and largest chapter-based honor society for nontraditional students. UA Adult Focus is proud to sponsor the Gamma Chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda here at The University of Akron. Unique in its concept and creation since 1946, Alpha Sigma Lambda recognizes the special achievements of adults who accomplish academic excellence while managing the competing interests of home and work.
Those invited to join have displayed their commitment to scholastic excellence by meeting membership criteria. They have completed a minimum of 30 graded semester hours, maintained a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and are among the highest 10 percent of the class.
This year's spring ceremony was held on Sunday, April 17 in the Student Union. The following students were inducted: Stephanie Davis, Anthony Deeter, Anthony Falbo, Cindy Graves, Jason Miller, Jennifer Sommers, Terri Walker and Lydia Yoder. Speakers included Laura Conley, director of UA Adult Focus and Jeff Dumire, president of Alpha Sigma Lambda. Each recipient received a certificate, lapel pin, membership card and rose. After the induction ceremony, everyone enjoyed a dessert and fruit reception.
